New Premiere: The Slowness of Being

“Accompanied by the sound of rain outside the theater, this work is like the root of nature, growing and blooming. How many ways can “slow” can be interpreted apart from the usual slow that we know?” - 汪穎兒 (Audience member & Dance Critic, Taiwan)

Presented at the International Young Choreographer’s Project in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on July 21st and July 22nd, 2024.

Featuring “Slow Growth” by Jazreel Low.

About me

My name is Maybelle Lek (b. 1996).

I am a Singaporean dance artist, working in performance, choreography and education.

My body of work is driven by a passionate desire to carve safe spaces for individuals to connect deeper within themselves, celebrate togetherness and feel empowered through the language of dance and movement. I believe in the transformative power of imagination, creative risk-taking, and the continuous exploration of embodied and physical movement modalities.

I approach movement as an expressive tool that blends virtuosity, flow and instinct, creating dance experiences that are highly accessible, imaginative and intimate.

Currently based in Madrid, but always on the road.
